New Fiction - “Priorities of Life”

17 December, 2007 (11:19) | Original Fiction | 5 comments

My newest piece of fiction, “Priorities of Life” is now live on the site in the Fan-Fiction Page (or here). This story attempts to delve even deeper into the life of a specialist crewman aboard a pod-pilot captained vessel.

This one has taken me a while to finish but I have thoroughly enjoyed delving into a bit of the backstory regarding crews. Being such a hotly debated topic amongst roleplayers, I thought it prudent to add to the already blossoming framework that other writers have started regarding crews and their struggle against the ‘demi-god’ that is the pod-pilot.

I hope you enjoy this one and please feel free to leave a comment or two in the “Ari’s Fan Fiction” page.

Warp Drive Active - Episode 23

14 December, 2007 (08:59) | Warp Drive Active Podcast | No comments

OMG…

If you aren’t familiar with the absolute hilarity that is the Warp Drive Active podcast, then you really need to head here and have a look at the latest episode from this crazy duo. This week the two hosts of the show, Winterblink and Urban Mongral, decide that it would be appropriate to take a shot of Icelandic alcholic beverage Brennivin for every issue that has come about from the recent expansion. In total, I think they get to 8 shots but by this stage they had gone through a lot more than 8 issues. Anyway, I decided to make a small homage to their champion efforts by making a little graph that shows the relationships between drinking Brennivin and doing a WDA podcast. You can have a look at the graph here. I heartily suggest that you reel it up on i-tunes and have a listen each week. Very cool stuff.

[NQXI] 2v2 Cruiser Tournament Report

14 December, 2007 (04:09) | NQXI News | 4 comments

Yesterday at 0930 EVE time we saw select members of NQXI flex their muscles in the 2vs2 Cruiser Tournament. The tournament was held in the NQXI base system of Pemene. The rules were simple - teams of 2 using fully tech-1 fitted cruisers of their choice. No named or faction modules and no rigs. A nice cheap fight. Members were randomly paired up in with one member of higher skill points and another member of lower skills points. This proved to be a great move by the organisers as it gave the newer players a taste of what tournament PVP is all about.

EVE Trinity Upgrade a Downgrade for some.

6 December, 2007 (10:10) | EVE News | No comments

Thousands of EVE players around the world woke up today to a new and exciting addition to their gaming addiction. The highly anticipated Trinity upgrade went live on Tranquility ahead of schedule today with many players jumping on the newly available client downloads. Initial responses the upgrade were extremely positive with many people reporting an increase in FPS using the ‘Classic Client’. Though major problems started appearing when many reports of total system failure were being posted on the forums. To CCPs credit, the response was swift and the devs started investigating the problems. It seems that earlier versions of Windows OS caused the client to delete the boot.ini file from many players computers. Upon restart, systems would not restart, forcing in some cases a full re-install of the operating system. CCP have identified the problem as being caused by a file in the EVE client installation amazingly named “boot.ini”. They have since rectified the problem.

Now the question on everyones mind is obvious. How did a file in the EVE installation come to be named after such a crucial file in 90% of players OS? Many players are furious at the companies lack of thorough testing of this upgrade before release. Even the many players that are generally forgiving of such errors have pulled out the pitchforks and begun to ask “why?”.

An issue this big is sure to force a response from CCP. Whilst this writer is optimistic that the explanation will be sufficient but we can only hope that they believe in learning from their experiences.

It begins….

Well, this is it. The beginning. Das Start ya!

The whole impetus for this little adventure into the world of blogging is purely to provide me with a means to be creative and display the results of said creativity. All this creativity being based around possibily the most immersive, deep and intellectual MMO on the market - EVE ONLINE. Commentaries, fan-fiction, eve inspired digital art; really just a melting pot of many experiments to curb this constant crave I have to be creative.

For the moment, bare with me…..the content will come. So, let make a deal you and I. If you like what you see on this site then tell me and I will continue to bring you the goods. Deal? No? Well……I’m going to do it anyway! :P
